Writing Website Copy
This is all website copy I wrote to accompany our trivia games on NPR's Ask Me Another. You can click on the images to go to the original post, though I've also recreated the copy below to save you a few clicks.
"If there are two things that exude the same type of power in this world, it's Motown powerhouses and deluxe menu items from Taco Bell. That's why in this music parody game, The War Report podcast hosts Shalewa Sharpe and Gastor Almonte are served a hefty helping of Supremes songs rewritten to be about fast food chains."
"Admit it, everyone has the same thought when they see a Masterclass ad: this should've been taught by a chinchilla. Well, the human-centric days are over! Couples Therapy hosts Naomi Ekperigin and Andy Beckerman go back to school in this game about animal led Masterclasses."
"As if being in a regular nightclub wasn't stressful enough, Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show, She Memes Well) and Taylor Garron (Look I Bought Plants: And Other Poems About Life and Stuff, As of Yet) navigate some new clubs themed after elements on the periodic table. It's already loud and sweaty people keep bumping into you? Great! Now answer questions about boron!"
"Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, hosts of NBC's American Ninja Warrior, play a game where they imagine what would happen if landmarks from American cities became American Ninja Warrior obstacles. Apologies to the National Park Service; that extra Liberty Bell crack will probably buff right out."
This is website copy I wrote to accompany the interview segments we did with our VIP guests. Same deal as above, the images are linked and the copy is recreated below.
"Better Call Saul and The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito's on-screen interests include running a drug empire and hunting Baby Yoda. Off-screen, Esposito's interests include playing the saxophone and designing hats. In this interview, Esposito talks about his initial reluctance to take on the role of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and its prequel, Better Call Saul. Then, he talks about his first meeting with Baby Yoda, aka The Child, aka Grogu, from shaking "its little hand" to petting "its little furry, big ears." He also briefly revisits one of his first TV gigs — playing Big Bird's camp counselor on Sesame Street — and plays a game about other celebrities who appeared on the beloved show."
"In Treatment and Orange Is the New Black actor Uzo Aduba shares that when she was growing up, she and her sister learned a secret language— their brother, on the other hand, missed the lesson. This, of course, leads to years of inside jokes and secret conversations, much to her brother's annoyance. She talks about how playing a therapist— In Treatment's Dr. Brooke Taylor— has opened her eyes to the other side of therapy. Then, the actor plays a round of Trivia Golf, showing off her knowledge of everything from opera to The Real Housewives."
Writing for On Air Products
This is a game I wrote while interning on NPR's Ask Me Another. I researched and picked out the real Chia Pets we used, and also came up with the fake ones.
These are a few examples of copy I've written for liners which were then recorded and produced by other people.
